Basic troubleshooting

• App won't open or crashes: make sure you're on the latest version (update from TestFlight or the App Store), then fully close and reopen the app. If it continues, restart your phone.
• Names aren't loading: confirm you've chosen filters that aren't too narrow — very restrictive filters can leave few or no matching names.
• QR code won't scan: the invite code is scanned with your iPhone's own Camera app — BabyBallot never asks for camera access itself. Open Camera, point it at the other phone's screen, and tap the banner that appears. Turn the displaying phone's brightness up and keep the whole square in frame.
• Tapping the invite link does nothing: install BabyBallot first, then tap the same link again. The second tap is what hands the invite to the app.
• Home still says "No linked partner yet": leave the Home screen and come back, which makes the app check again. It can lag by a moment after your co-parent accepts.
• Progress didn't save: your rounds are saved on your device as you go. If a session seems missing, check that you didn't delete and reinstall the app (that clears local data — see "Where your results are stored").

Purchases and access

Voting is unlocked with a monthly pass: $4.99 for your first month, $2.99 for any month after that. Each pass is a one-time, non-auto-renewing purchase through the Apple App Store — there is no subscription running in the background, nothing to cancel, and you are never charged again unless you deliberately buy another month. Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see or store your payment details.

Only one of you pays. The person who buys a pass sends an invite link, and the co-parent who accepts it gets full access at no cost for as long as that pass lasts.

When a pass expires you keep read access: every finished election and all your matches stay viewable. You just can't start a new election until you buy another month.

How to restore access

If you reinstall the app or set up a new device and you had previously bought a pass, use Restore purchase on the plan screen, signed in with the same Apple Account you purchased with. Restoring re-checks your purchase with Apple; it does not restore your on-device name lists (those live only on the original device).

How the co-parent connection works

BabyBallot is built for two co-parents, each swiping on their own phone. To compare your picks:

• The person who bought the pass opens Invite your co-parent and shares a QR code or a link. The co-parent scans it with their iPhone's Camera app, or just taps the link.
• Accepting the invite connects the two phones and unlocks the app for the co-parent. This happens once — no accounts, no sign-ups, and nothing to repeat in later rounds.
• Each of you then swipes privately, at your own pace. Neither of you sees the other's picks along the way.
• After you both finish round 3, the two phones swap their round-3 lists and the app shows the combinations you both liked — your "matches."

Rounds 1 and 2 draw from the same name data on both phones, but each phone builds its own deck, so you won't necessarily see identical names in the same order.

Where your results are stored

Your filters, liked names, custom names, rounds, and saved elections are stored on your device. BabyBallot has no accounts and no login.

Two things do leave your phone: the round-3 combinations you liked, sent at the exchange step so both phones can work out your shared matches, and a one-line note that an invite was accepted, so the other phone can show "Partner linked." Nothing else is uploaded — no analytics, no advertising, no personal information. Deleting the app removes the on-device data from your phone. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Current version: 1.0. You can see the exact version installed on your phone in iOS Settings → General → iPhone Storage → BabyBallot, or on the app's About/Info screen. Please mention your version when contacting support.
